Gowling WLG is known in Canada for its broad range of legal services, particularly in areas like intellectual property, corporate/commercial law, and litigation, as well as its strong presence in key industry sectors such as technology, life sciences, and energy. They are also recognized for their international reach and expertise in areas like international trade and infrastructure projects.

MARANT Construction served as Construction Manager for the seven-phased renovation of Gowling’s offices at First Canadian Place.

A key requirement for MARANT during this project was ensuring the firm’s business remained fully operational throughout construction. To accommodate this, swing space was secured across two nearby buildings and modified with new furniture, power, and data connections to support uninterrupted operations.

The project encompassed four practice floors and the client-facing conference floor, with the conference level delivered in two phases to maintain meeting access. The final phase integrated a new staircase, connecting all five floors. Each vacated floor was fully demolished and rebuilt to align with the firm’s new design concept.

The design and pre-construction phase was generous and allowed the core team appropriate time to design, budget and value engineer to maximize the creative impact, in a collaborative approach, while adhering to the client’s financial objectives.

MARANT’s phased approach ensured seamless delivery of the new workplace while minimizing disruption to the client’s ongoing operations.

From day one, I had confidence that the MARANT experience was going to be successful and I was not disappointed. They always went above and beyond, and were instrumental in assisting us navigate a challenging project. My deep thanks for everything MARANT did to ensure our vision was brought to reality.
