City BuildHERS Event

The City BuildHERS kick-off event in Ottawa was a resounding success, with a sold-out crowd of 150 industry leaders coming together to celebrate and connect with women from different fields within the construction industry. Spearheaded by Jennifer Cross, Business Development Manager at MARANT Construction, this event series was designed to foster new partnerships and networks in the commercial construction, architecture, design, and real estate sectors. The event took place at the TD Place Stadium, where attendees had the opportunity to participate in panel discussions with industry leaders such as Taya Cooke, from Urban Capital Developments, who shared insights about her project Reina, the first all-women development in Canada.

“City BuildHERS was founded on the idea that we are stronger together. We wanted to create a platform that brought women together from all sectors that contribute to the built environment to foster opportunities to create new working partnerships, and deepen our collective industry networks. I think that after the excitement, inspiration and enthusiasm that we are still feeling post event, we can safely say that the spark has been ignited for change and Ottawa City BuildHERS is firmly launched!” says Jennifer Cross.

With ARIDO and Ottawa Construction Association (OCA) as community partners, this was a wonderful evening for women to network, share experiences, and learn from one another while highlighting the significant contributions of women in this field.
