The new office tower location at 25 York Street was selected, in part, because of its LEED Gold certification, as well as it’s open floor plate. The building fit well with the company’s philosophy on environmental stewardship responsibility and the decision to relocate the growing organization to the 15th, 16th and 17th floors was determined prior to the completion of the base building construction.

The process to design a unique space, utilizing the sustainability features of the building (e.g. in floor HVAC system) began early in the year with a scheduled move-in date for September of the same year. As the base building was still under construction at the time the leasehold improvements were to begin for Kinross, schedule challenges were inevitable. A new “accelerated” schedule was required to complete the new office facility which totaled approximately 78,000 sf of space over three floors. The design concept utilized LEED standards for materials and best construction practices.
