Ottawa Tourism is a destination marketing organization tasked with promoting Ottawa and Canada’s Capital Region to tourists, tour operators, and meeting planners. Its main responsibilities include showcasing the destination, increasing visitor numbers, supporting growth in the tourism industry, and enhancing its economic impact.

As General Contractor for the Ottawa Tourism Visitor Centre, MARANT Construction proudly delivered a vibrant and multifunctional space designed to welcome tourists and support the operational needs of Ottawa Tourism. The build-out features a Canadian maple wood island, a seating area with mounted televisions for tourist information, restrooms, a water refill station, and a custom wall vinyl displaying Ottawa’s vibrant landscape. The space also features a modern office and functional kitchen designed to support staff in their daily operations as they welcome and assist newcomers to the city.

During construction, MARANT faced significant challenges due to the dated mechanical systems within the 135-year-old Central Chambers Heritage building. Nonetheless, through strong communication and problem-solving, the MARANT team successfully overcame these obstacles without damaging the original infrastructure of the historic Canadian site.

The completion of the Ottawa Tourism Visitor Centre, while preserving the historical integrity of the Central Chambers Building, was made possible with the support of our project partners: Place ID, McKee Engineers, Real Strategy Advisors, and Ottawa Tourism. Their strong partnerships ensured seamless coordination, timely issue resolution, and a result that proudly serves both visitors and staff in Canada’s capital.
