TELUS is a telecommunications company that provides Canadians with a range of services, from internet to TV. They are recognized for their commitment beyond telecommunications, actively supporting healthcare, agriculture and sustainability initiatives to promote positive and meaningful change for Canadians.

As Construction Manager, MARANT Construction worked alongside Lemay, Two Row Architect, and BOOM Intertribal to complete the fit-out of TELUS’s 28th-floor Toronto headquarters, named the ‘Place of Many Rivers,’ designed to embody TELUS’s commitment to their reconciliation journey.

The scope of the renovation included demolition of existing walls and services, and coordination with project partners to incorporate new architectural, electrical and mechanical services.

The project’s design partners assisted in establishing the visual elements of the space to integrate Indigenous cultural components, such as curved wooden walls that mimic a traditional longhouse, marsh zones and rounded gathering areas, which hold meaningful Indigenous significance, and the extensive inclusions of commissioned Indigenous artwork throughout hallways and rooms.

MARANT excelled at adhering to the project’s aggressive schedule. Upon completion, everyone involved in the project successfully contributed to delivering a space that tells a story, serves as a functional space for Indigenous and non-Indigenous TELUS employees or visitors, and sets an example for reconciliation-informed design.
