MARANT Successfully Reduces Emissions in 2024 GHG Inventory Report
TORONTO, ON – July 23, 2025 – Environmental stewardship is a core part of our values and operations at MARANT Construction, and we are very proud to report the noteworthy progress we have made leading up to now. Our most recently completed GHG Inventory demonstrates that MARANT has successfully reduced our Scope 1, 2, and business travel related Scope 3 carbon emissions to 239.08 tonnes of CO₂-equivalent (tCO2e), marking an 8% decrease in comparison to the previous year’s emissions.
We understand that our clients and communities expect meaningful, measurable sustainability efforts and for these reasons we are so excited about our success in reducing our carbon emissions and sharing this milestone with you.
This achievement stems from our ongoing commitment to reviewing and refining both in-office and on-site practices. Key contributors to the reduction include decreased usage of natural gas in our offices, reduced fleet fuel consumption, and achieving emissions reduction in site-related business travel. We’ve also continued to offset our Scope 1, Scope 2, and business travel-related Scope 3 emissions, helping us sustain a more responsible environmental footprint.
In 2024, MARANT partnered with Carbonzero to further strengthen our efforts to repair and maintain our environment by setting a company-wide goal of achieving carbon neutrality. Carbonzero, an environmental consultant and provider of third-party verified carbon offset projects, has played a critical role in helping us measure our greenhouse gas emissions and implement effective reduction strategies across our Toronto, Ottawa, and Kitchener-Waterloo office. One of the key solutions we’ve embraced through this partnership is carbon offsetting, a process by which we invest in initiatives that either reduce or remove emissions from the atmosphere
Guided by Carbonzero, MARANT began supporting two major Canadian initiatives through carbon offsets: The Great Bear Forest Carbon Project (GBFCP) and the Niagara Escarpment Forest Carbon Project (NEFCP). These projects not only contribute to our sustainability goals but also align with our values around ecosystem preservation, Indigenous leadership, and community involvement.
The Great Bear Forest Carbon Project is Canada’s first Indigenous-owned carbon offset project. It protects over 6.4 million hectares of rainforest in northern British Columbia from logging and other harmful activities. By supporting it, MARANT helps protect trees, wildlife, and air quality, while preserving biodiversity for future generations.
The Niagara Escarpment Forest Carbon Project protects land from the Greater Golden Horseshoe to Manitoulin and the North Channel. It prevents harmful activities like illegal camping and hunting, while promoting sustainable land care. In 2024, it preserved 1,066 acres, raised $4.3 million, and involved 700+ people in conservation. It supports communities in protecting the environment and local wildlife.
As our business operations move forward, MARANT stays fully committed to reducing our environmental impact and supporting initiatives that contribute to rebuilding and preserving ecosystems. We will continue to embed greener practices into every aspect of our operations, because everything we do, no matter how small, is an opportunity to make the world better.
